Mechanical power press lockout procedure
A mechanical power press holds electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and gravity energy. Here is where it hurts people, and the procedure for yours: the placard for the machine and the written procedure for the binder.

Where a mechanical power press hurts people
- The flywheel keeps turning for minutes after the motor stops. Wait for it to stop before releasing the clutch air.
- The counterbalance air holds the slide up. Block the slide before bleeding it.
- Die setting is servicing: the press is locked out, not just stopped on top stroke.
